Amsterdam Convention Bureau appoints Dennis Speet as director

Dennis Speet started as the new Director Meetings & Conventions of the Amsterdam Convention Bureau on April 15. Before he worked for many years, including as COO and CEO, at the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA). With his extensive international experience and network, he will play an important role in profiling Amsterdam with the team in collaboration with our partners as a sustainable and innovative conference city. The focus is on attracting conferences that add value to the city along with its entrepreneurs, knowledge institutions, residents and companies.

Multi-year plan for Amsterdam Congress City

Dennis succeeds Claudia Wehmeijer, who over the past three years has played an important role in attracting and linking several congresses to the metropolis, the founding of the convention bureau and initiating the recently approved 2021-2024 Conference Plan. He will implement the strategic Multi-year Plan for Amsterdam Conference City 2021 - 2024. This strategy ensures that Amsterdam becomes and remains an important, sustainable and innovative conference city in Europe. Amsterdam mainly focuses on conferences in the Life Sciences & Health sectors (such as the cardiologists conference in 2023), Tech, sustainability, FinTech and the creative industry.
