Cologne Convention Bureau guides event planners with storytelling format

Event planners can now find online a set of guidelines that will help them optimally plan their event. This is a new service of the Cologne Convention Bureau (CCB). In six steps complete with checklists, planners of a meeting or an social event are guided through the process of organizing their event. The service is available in German and English for beginners as well as professionals, and it can be used in Cologne or anywhere else. The guidelines can be found at locations.koeln.

Innovative format

“We regard ourselves as a partner of our customers, and we want to offer our utmost support to make sure their events are successful,” explains Stephanie Kleine Klausing, Director Conventions & Marketing at the Cologne Tourist Board. “That’s why we are now sharing our accumulated know-how and experience on our website, using a modern and innovative format.” The CCB uses a storytelling format for their global planning service. On the website, the user is guided in six chapters through the process of planning an event. Entertaining graphics are combined with appropriate checklists that are available for download, and care is taken to ensure that no detail will be forgotten.

Important work steps

The guidelines cover important work steps such as
  • defining the goal and the target group
  • designing the concept and doing the calculations
  • checking the planning process
  • organizing the event
  • staging the event
  • doing the follow-up work.
