Eight economic clusters

The Amsterdam Economic Board, whose operations are carried out by prominent CEOs, scientists and administrators, has identified eight economic clusters that are strongly represented within the metropolitan region that is Amsterdam. These are Creative Industries, ICT/e-Science, Life Sciences Health, Financial & Business Services, Tourism & Conventions, Logistics, Horticulture & Agri-food and High-Tech Materials. A Clusters & Congresses project has also started, in which the region's congress professionals create a connection between the professional development of knowledge and the transfer of that knowledge via international congresses. Participating parties are Amsterdam Marketing, Amsterdam RAI, Amsterdam inbusiness and Stadsregio Amsterdam. Clusters & Congresses has connections within each economic cluster that can be valuable when organizing a congress, e.g., in organizing speakers, a think-tank or a discussion panel. This contributes to broadening the content of congress subjects. Exchanging knowledge sometimes starts even before a congress takes place. It could take the form of providing a congress with a customised programme.
