The 2017 edition of the event put a spotlight on several outstanding cities, competing in the Short Haul Destination Category -  Barcelona, Berlin, Dublin, Malta – with The Hague securing most votes from the public jury. The Hague received this recognition of excellence along two other top-class destinations in domestic and long-haul categories: London and New York. “We can’t be more proud,” said Ms Nienke van der Malen, Director of The Hague Convention Bureau, an organization which is tasked with profiling the The Hague as a business event destination. “In the last two years we have made huge strides in making The Hague more accessible as an event destination – through information and awareness programmes, building strong relationships with event organizers and through positioning our city in a consistent and appealing manner.”

Conference venues

World Forum The Hague, who have previously won the C&IT award in 2014 was competing in one of the most challenging categories, with such venues as CCD in Dublin making the shortlist. “This award crowns the enormous effort we have put into making our venue highly relevant, secure, sustainable and welcoming: through extensive investment into renovation, ongoing expansion of our expertise and dedication of the team to deliver quality in everything we do,” emphasized Kirsten Vosmer, Commercial Manager of World Forum The Hague (GL Events Group). The Hague is a world-class city on the coast of The Netherlands, with a rich cultural heritage and global status, and is a centre of excellence for many key industry sectors.  The Hague is exceptionally well-connected to Schiphol, one of Europe’s largest airports, only a 30-minute train ride away.

UK events

“We are welcoming more and more UK events every year, as they increasingly appreciate The Hague as a top-level destination which offers discovery and new experiences,” stated Deputy Mayor Karsten Klein, The Hague's alderman for Economic Affairs, Harbors, Welfare and Health, “We are looking forward to 2018 in which we expect this interest to grow and result in many exciting and meaningful events.”
