Jurgen Moors new managing director Maastricht Convention Bureau

Since April 1st, Jurgen Moors is the new managing director of the Maastricht Convention Bureau. The transition of the Maastricht Convention Bureau has now come to an end. Recently it already became clear that the next three years, the municipality of Maastricht will offer extra financial support and that part of the tourist tax will become available to acquire (international) conventions. All the more reason for the Maastricht Convention Bureau to focus even more on cooperation with Brightlands, MECC Maastricht and other local partners. Next to that, the bureau will investigate new opportunities in Meuse-Rhine Euroregion. The board of the Maastricht Convention Bureau has found Jurgen Moors as the best man for this job. Together with Katja Zambib-Otten, who has worked at the convention bureau for many years, he will evolve the strategy and implement it in an innovative manner. Moors will develop new ideas and has the right experiences, and most of all, the network to strongly represent Maastricht as a convention destination. Moors is 29 years old, has finished his bachelor and master degrees European Studies at Maastricht University and recently studied business administration at the UHasselt, Belgium. Previous employers were, among others, Berlitz International in Brussels and the Chamber of Commerce. At the Chamber, Moors was responsible for strategically advise and guide Limburg corporates wanting to expand their business abroad, initializing projects in the Euroregion for developing cooperation, as well as organising international trade missions. The Maastricht Convention Bureau offers independent information, advice and mediation surrounding organising conventions. The bureau mainly aims at associations and corporates looking to organise conventions in the Maastricht region. Next to that, the bureau wants to develop new conventions, together with local scientists and the campuses in the province of Limburg. “All this with the economic stimulus of the Maastricht region as a motive,” says Jurgen Moors.
