Mariëtte Helmann, founder of Eurocongress, former MD of MCI Amsterdam and former MCI Europe Regional Management Board Member, has passed away
Mariëtte Helmann passed away on the evening of January 28th at the age of 63, following a long and courageous battle with cancer.
In 1977 Mariëtte established the Dutch PCO Eurocongress in response to an obvious need of the association market, the government and the corporate market for professionals to organise their meetings. From its foundation, Eurocongress organised many national, European and international congresses, workshops and seminars and became the leading PCO in The Netherlands.
In 2010 MCI acquired Eurocongress and up until recently Mariëtte served as Managing Director of MCI Amsterdam, together with Eurocongress’ co-founder Michelle Labouchere.
Mariëtte served as board member for various institutions, including the Association of the Dutch Congress Industry (VNC), the Netherlands Convention Bureau (NCB), Prinsengracht Hospital and the Amsterdam Convention Bureau (ACB).
She will be missed as a precious person, a mentor, a friend, a business partner, a surrogate mom and a source of inspiration and good fun.
