New Belgian Limburg Convention Bureau starts promotion

Under the slogan ‘Reinventing is in our nature’, the new Belgian Limburg Convention Bureau, is promoting the meeting industry in Belgian Limburg.

The BLCB will be promoting Belgian Limburg for the first time at IBTM World, the leading global event for the meetings, incentives, conferences, events and business travel industry, held in Barcelona. “In recent years, substantial investments have been made in unique meeting and event locations in Belgian Limburg. Our region also places a strong focus on future-oriented knowledge sectors. In other words, we have plenty of reasons to really start promoting business tourism in the region, and to do this from a single, collective platform. This initiative combined with other benefits for tourists, such as the beautiful scenery, nature and hospitality will really help Belgian Limburg stand out in the national and international market as an area that offers hospitality, joie de vivre and ... as being a surprisingly innovative destination for business tourists,” according to Igor Philtjens, President of Tourism Limburg.

Nine knowledge centres

In Belgian Limburg nine knowledge centres all work to spearhead the economic development in the region. Incubators, campuses, meeting facilities, networks and educational programs have been expanded to accommodate these future-oriented sectors. The start-ups, experts and specialists that have come together in these knowledge centres offer a unique added value for every event. These centers focus on clean technology and the circular economy, creative and innovative business, technology, energy, health & care, the cycling economy, agro-innovation, IT, and propulsion technologies in the automotive sector.

Belgian Limburg borders on the Netherlands, Germany and the Liège region. Situated in the heart of the Euregion, far from the traffic jams around Antwerp and Brussels.
