New faces at Maastricht Convention Bureau

Two new faces at the Maastricht Convention Bureau. Jan Kees Dunning, CEO of the Maastricht Health Campus, has joined the board. Judith Nijssen is the new Sales Manager Meetings & Incentives. The Maastricht Convention Bureau is a foundation which promotes Maastricht & region as destination for conventions and meetings. The Maastricht Convention Bureau is very pleased with these developments. Director Marcel Knols: “The convention destination Maastricht & region has a lot to offer. The Maastricht Health Campus brings a lot of new opportunities for Maastricht as a destination for scientific meetings. Therefore, we work very closely with parties such as MECC Maastricht, Maastricht municipality and Maastricht University, to make sure more scientific meetings will be held in Maastricht & region and even are being developed here. The fact that Jan Kees Dunning has become a member of the board, the essence of this cooperation is being emphasized and it becomes even more intense.”

Jan Kees Dunning

Jan Kees Dunning confirms this: “At the moment, Maastricht Health Campus, Maastricht municipality, Maastricht University, MECC Maastricht and Maastricht Convention Bureau already work together very close: on a regular basis, they have sessions with a goal to establish potential for parties involved. Maastricht presents itself as the destination for conventions which coincide with the priorities of the Health Campus (cardiovascular disease | public health care and primary care | metabolic aspects of chronic diseases and cancer | mental health and brain research). By joining the board, these interests are being looked after as well, also for the issues of MECC Maastricht, Hotels, Maastricht Tourist Office and Other suppliers.” The board members of the Maastricht Convention Bureau are Rob Stevens (director L1; independent chairman), Frans Willem Cox (director Hotel Van der Valk Maastricht; on behalf of the hotels in Maastricht & region), Susanne Pauwels (director and owner Pauwels Congress Organisers; on behalf of the other suppliers) Rob van de Wiel (director MECC Maastricht; on behalf MECC Maastricht) and Jan Kees Dunning (on behalf of the Maastricht Tourist Office).

Judith Nijssen

A second “new” face at the Maastricht Convention Bureau is that of Judith Nijssen. She is the new Sales Manager Meetings & Incentives. Judith is not completely new: she already had this position for a few months, during a maternity leave. That was a huge success, so it is only logical that she returned when she had the chance. Judith is very much looking forward to be able to work for Maastricht again: “it is such a nice job and it is great to work for Maastricht & region! I am very much looking forward to go on the road again, together with our partners, both in The Netherlands as well as abroad, to bring and keep this beautiful destination to the attention of planners of corporate meetings!”
