NEXUS chooses Rotterdam for her European Summit 2018

International leading Impact Investing network NEXUS, has chosen Rotterdam to host the 2018 NEXUS European Summit. Nexus is an international network of more than 3000 young investors, social entrepreneurs and allies who work to increase and improve philanthropy and social impact investing. This was announced during a recent visit of the Nexus delegation to Rotterdam. Chair of the delegation and co-founder of NEXUS, Rachel Gerrol, and the other delegates were very impressed by the collaborative attitude of the municipality, the vibrant eco-system of social entrepreneurs, impact- investors and corporates working on social issues. The delegation experienced Rotterdam as a frontrunner in taking a business approach to addressing societal issues.

2018 NEXUS European Summit

The 2018 NEXUS European Summit will take place in Rotterdam April 24-26. Stef van Dongen, founder of the social business group Enviu in Rotterdam, member of the Working Group Impact Investing and chairman of NEXUS Europe: ‘the importance of this summit coming to Rotterdam, cannot be underestimated. I am sure this will give social entrepreneurship and Impact Investing in Europe a big boost’ The NEXUS network, founded in 2011, collaborates to advance the potential of next generation leadership across nations and sectors as well as to bridge communities of wealth and social entrepreneurship for dialogue, education and group problem solving. The membership includes people from more than 70 countries and families with hundreds of billions of dollars in combined net worth. NEXUS convenes in partnership with the United Nations, the White House and other government agencies. It has been profiled in The New York Times, Vanity Fair, Forbes, and other leading publications. The summits have inspired the creation of dozens of new social ventures.

Can-do-mentality

Rotterdam Vice Mayor for Employment and Economy Maarten Struijvenberg: “Rotterdam has to make a shift towards economic solutions to the challenges facing the city and Rotterdam can make this shift because of its can-do-mentality of our entrepreneurs, inhabitants and organisations who create these solutions together.” The NEXUS delegation was welcomed in Rotterdam by a special Working Group Impact Investing, a co-production of the city of Rotterdam, Rotterdam Partners and private partners.
